SWAY AGAIN, never far back and well ridden, assumed command when settled in the stretch, then continued gamely to withstand PEACE BIRD. The latter, on the outside from the start, came willingly when hard ridden through the stretch, but could not overtake the winner. CAN STEP, on the inside throughout, worked his way forward steadily and closed determinedly in a good effort. ROMANCE HILL began slowly. TAJ MAHAL was outrun. TIGERITA went to the front early, made the pace until inside the stretch, then weakened. LUCKY RUN began fast, but could not keep up. LADY SALADIN tired. POLLY PICTOR engaged TIGERITA to the stretch, then gave way. FLAMONA WENT LAME DURING THE POST PARADE AND WAS ORDERED SCRATCHED. ALL WAGERS ON HER WERE REFUNDED. GOLDEN MAN began fast, made the pace until inside the stretch, then was unable to hold the winner, although easily best of the others. CHAPEL BELLS, on the outside entering the stretch, failed to rally when roused for the drive. PORTERFIELD never was dangerous. WIRE QUEST had early speed. SHES SMART was outrun. AWAY, in close quarters soon after the start, moved up with a saving of ground to the stretch, came out for the drive, then closed well, but could not menace the winner. ELK HILLS, forwardly placed from the start, weakened when set down for the drive. RED SPIRIT began fast and raced well to the final quarter before tiring.
