Bay State Kindergarten At Suffolk on Week-End Faneuil Miss, Unbridled and Sunday Love Among Candidates SUFFOLK DOWNS, East Boston, Mass., May 14. — Suffolk Downs enters its third full week of racing Monday and the spotlight switches to juveniles as the Bay State Kindergarten Stakes comes up for decision on Saturday. Sixty-four youngsters were made eligible for. the second running of the five-furlong dash that carries an added value of ,000. Twenty-six of the candidates have already appeared under silks at the young meeting, eight of which have been returned a winner. The best to display their form before the local public are Mrs. F. A. Genters Unbridled, Honeywell Farms Faneuil Miss, Lookout Studs Henry Busse, and Mrs. R. Cramers Sunday Love. Faneuil Miss broke the track mark for a half-mile when she scored by three lengths in : 41 Ys. The others have displayed keen speed in four and a half furlong tests and regardless of any new speedsters coming from the other eli-gibles, this quartet is capable of exhibiting a stern battle. The largest single contributor to the Kindergarten is John E. Hughes, who has named four. Trainer Melvin Calvert also has a quartet eligible for the week-end feature. In addition to Unbridled, the former jockey has Mrs. Genters Blue Gentian and a pair for H. C Genter, Apache Trail and Peter A. H. C "Billikin" Wolfe, who saddled A. F. Cotters Petey Cotter, winner of a division of the stake last year, has three of his wifes two-year-olds eligible. Petey Cotter was the only member of last years Kindergarten that remained eligible for the recent running of the Kentucky Derby. The Saint Andrews colt showed good speed in his preps for the Diamond Jubilee classic at Louisville but was declared at the last minute after failing in the Derby Trial stakes. Reynolds Brothers, who won the other division of last years running of the stake with Abra, has Raton, a gelding, and Juana, a filly, each by Reconciled, nominated for this years edition. It is very doubtful if the response to the test will be as great this year as it was in the inauguration of the feature, yet devel-* opments during the early part of the week may provide a large field for Saturdays feature. The coming weeks features start off Monday with a half dozen sophomores slated to match strides in a mile and one-sixteenth race for a purse of ,000. Mort Stuarts consistent Best Doings tops the field for the event, named the Columbia, and will be opposed by D. A. Rosenbaums American Glory, L. W. Johnsons Var, Mrs. R. Cramers Divot Digger, H. Kennedys Fosters Pride and Bissella and Cintolos Staunch.
