HENRY .PAYNE was under pressure to set the pace, responded under a late drive and outfinished ST. GLORY. The latter broke well, engaged the leader from the outside and was ridden close throughout, but continued on gamely to the, end. VALDINA PERION moved into contention after a quarter mile, came to the outside for the drive, then faltered. BIG TEDDY was with the leaders throughout, weakening slightly near theend. SUNAWAY loomed as a threat on the final turn and raced wide, then failed to respond when roused. HOMESPUN was unable to keep up. CONFIRMATION showed nothing. DO-REIGH-MI broke down near the far turn and came back very lame. A claim of foul against the winner was not allowed. OSCULORIA, steadied in the. early running and eased over to the inside, moved with a rush when clear, assumed command and" drew out under pressure. PAGE II. engaged the leaders soon after the start, continued on gamely under pressure and was going well at the end. ANOTHER BEL raced DIEGO RED into submission, but was unable to draw clearunder late pressure. IRISH COUNT finished well along the inside. DIEGO RED flattened out after losing command. THREE PASSES went evenly. FLAMING DANCE passed tiring horses. SHORTIST went through on the inside to enter contention after a quarter mile and flattened out when put to pressure. SILK BOUND was rushed boldly on the outside rounding the turn, then quit. The others were outrun. RED TAG, kept close to the pace on the outside, rallied when set down, closed strongly and was up to beat HIGH HUNCH in the final strides. The latter disposed of JOHNNIE 0. after a half, but had nothing left to stave off the winners bid. LADY CAVITE, taken back and steadied in the early running, moved gradually entering the stretch, swung wide, then went evenly. BILTRITE saved ground to threaten, then faltered. GROUND FOG, a forward factor on the outside, closed gamely under steady pressure and gained a slight advantage over SHAKO in the final stride. SHAKO moved to the leaders soon after the start, came to the inside for the drive, continued on gamely and just failed to last. OCTORORA was unable to keep up. EVENING FLIGHT passed tiring horses. DADDY JOE, outrun to the final S quarter, moved through the pack with a rush, caught the leader inside the final sixteenth and increased margin s with ease, working out a mile in 1:40%. KNIGHTS CROSS engaged the leaders from the start, remained along the inside, saved ground, drew on even terms with the leader at the furlong pole, but was no match for the q winner. WHITE HAWK closed stoutly under late pressure. GOOD EGG quit badly after setting the pace to the final furlong. MUSKETEER rushed boldly on the outside after a quarter, then flattened out. SCIPIO, steadied while close up between horses, waited to make his move until straightened for the drive, then moved away from the leaders with ease. CAPTAIN BOUDOUR showed good speed from the start, set the pace under urging, drifted out on the final turn, but finished with good energy. GEE WHIZ closed up on the inside, drew on even terms with the leader entering the stretch, but was not good enough. TIM B., closer to the pace on the outside, was forced to lose ground as the leaders went wide. SNEAK, steadied along on the inside, moved boldly on the turn, had clear racing room, but bogged down. MESMER, hustled from the start to gain a forward position, was taken under restraint and kept down on the inside of the leader to the far turn, moved through on the inside when ready, gained a slight lead and was under stout pressure to hold FANCY FLYER safe. The latter came from off the pace after a half mile, moved to the inside entering the stretch and was closing on the winner at the end. GRAND ENTRY moved to engage the leader after six furlongs, then continued on strongly. COLUMN, outrun most of the way, was taken to the outside on the final turn, then lacked his usual drive. BOO BOO SHOO was unable-to keep up. SASSYS KING came over sharply going to the first turn and caused slight brushing, then was straightened, but was shuffled back and showed nothing thereafter. SAN JUSTO was outrun. AGRARIAN-U was under pressure to gam the lead, then flattened out when challenged. FLAG DRILLS LEG BECAME FILLED IN THE PADDOCK AND HE WAS ORDERED SCRATCHED BY THE VETERINARIAN.
