CECIL M. rapidly gained a commanding lead, was not threatened and won with speed in reserve. LOVE LOCK showed speed throughout, rac£d a bit greenly and was no match for the top one. CHAL-GLASS showed an even effort. CHARLESTON was slow to settle into stride and may show improvement. SPRING SPEED reached contention early after a tardy beginning, but was beaten off. HIGHEST AWARD showed nothing. MINNOW flattened out badly. INFAITH was away tardily. MYSTAGOGUE was always outrun. AIRY ROSE broke alertly, but was through early. HARMONY HOPE was able to gain the rail position while outrunning her opposition early, was nicely rated and withstood the challenge of ELECTRON. The latter was always forwardly placed, was unable to reach the top one under pressure on the final turn, but was getting to her nearing the end. FAIR ANN improved her position along the backstretch and weakened after lacking room to move through on the inside of the leader. BALLIOL lacked a menacing rally. BROAD CROSS saved ground while racing with CAVALIER TRIM and drew clear gradually when his opponent faltered nearing the end CAVALIER TRIM was outrun by BROAD CROSS early, joined that one after a furlong, gained a slight lead briefly at the furlong pole and tired. LOVING ROBERT closed much ground under unfashionable urging DOC STEARN raced within striking distance and failed to respond. RIGHT METAL continued on well ELECTED showed nothing. TUFTON was through after a half. WYE RIVER quit to a walk. MAGNET raced in close attendance to the pace, responded to urging through the stretch and turned back RARE MINERAL. The latter saved ground while holding a narrow advantage, held on extremely well but could not resist the winner RAY K raced forwardly and between horses, was impeded slightly in early stretch and faltered. EAGLE SPEED was made too much use of early and lacked a rally in the late stages. PIPER tired. TOP ME was taken back after leaving the chute alertly, then was not unduly punished. LANDS END could not keep up early, was pinched, back when horses moved by him on the turn, then closed willingly from the extreme outside. CHILIBONES rallied from well back. ALAN C. loomed a threat turning for home, then faltered. SUN DANCE stopped badly after being hard ridden in an attempt to reach the pacemaker. ETERNAL DREAM was through early. CAPOT was steadied while in close attendance to the pace, responded to assume command just inside the furlong pole, drew clear slightly under pressure and was nicely handled to stave off the late rally of PALESTINIAN. The latter was allowed to settle into best stride, saved ground while rallying from the three-eighths pole, was eased out of the stretch drive and was getting to the top one. NOBLE IMPULSE was well rated while setting a swift pace and held on gamely to the sixteenth pole, but was not good enough. SUN BAHRAM advanced steadily -from the half-mile pole, but had nothing left for the final furlong drive. PONDER trailed far back early, responded when placed to extreme pressure and was gaining momentum in the late stretch. CURANDERO weakened after six furlongs. MODEL CADET was forced to race a bit wide on the first turn and could not seriously menace after three-quarters. OLD R0CKP0RT dropped back early and had no apparent excuse. TARAN was always far back. CONTEST, steadied after bumping with CERTIFIED at the first turn, was not hurried into contention, reached the leader gradually and drew clear to win handily. HAROLD HARTER set a fast pace, but was no match. WAR STORY came from well off the pace in a fair effort. RED POMPON attempted to move with the winner on the outside, but could not keep up.
