• Ocean Brief Sets New* Track Mark in Camden • GARDEN STATE PARK, Camden, N. J., May 14. — New York invaders gleaned the major awards in the Camden Handicap, the featured offering: here this afternoon. Ocean Brief, with 120 pounds up and racing for the King Ranch, was returned the winner in a severe stretch drive over Joseph M. Roeblings Macbeth with Buzfuz in third place. In winning, Ocean Brief continued her Camden success in an unbroken fashion and today established a new track standard, speeding the distance in 1:09%. This mark clipped one-fifth of a second from the old six-furlong record established by Polynesian two years back in the same stake offering. In winning today, Ocean Brief increased her earnings by 2,525 and has to her credit successes in both stake offerings at this meeting. Last week-end she triumphed in the Colonial, also a six-furlong test. The finish of todays offering was a spirited one, with the winner in doubt until the official placing was displayed. Garden State Park this afternoon was host to one of the largest crowds of the year, with the turnstile count 27,856. Ideal conditions prevailed and racing was interesting despite the failure of the majority of the popular choices.
