DICKS HAY DAY outsprinted the field into the first turn and continued on*: gamely, under! brisk: handling; 1 DOUBLE DARED, outrun early/ closed resolutely in a sharp effort.* LITTLE POPSIE closed a gap, but could not seriously menace the leaders. MERRYTOWN faltered when roused for the final test, but lasted to earn a dead-heat with NIGHT GRASS. The latter made a bold bid entering the -stretch and weakened in the final stages,, but had enough left to finish on even terms with MERRYTOWN. COVEY RIDGE flashed brief speed. TIME LARK, prominent from the beginning, came around horses to assume command entering the stretch and won drawing away. FLARE MONTE was shuffled back slightly on the upper turn, then closed determinedly when clear. RELIC DAZE raced evenly through the final furlong without mishap. WAZA WANA was much used engaging for the early advantage and had little left at the finish. LADY SHIRLEY tired under punishment. FORMAN had a rough trip. DUSTY BABE was forced to take up sharply on the far turn and never fully recovered. ISA PRINCESS gave a dull performance throughout. BUBBLE GUM, never far back and under steady restraint, was sent to the front when ready entering the stretch and drew clear when ridden out. BOLD LADY made the pace to the furlong marker under pressure, gave way to BUBBLE GUM and though no match for the winner was easily best of the others. MOUNTAIN ROAR, farther back early than usual, failed to respond when called upon for the stretch run. UPGRADE was never dangerous. MERRYMARCH failed to stay after racing prominently to the stretch. ACTNICE, slow to reach her best stride, was forced to take the overland route entering the stretch and, under good handling, was up in the final strides to dispose of POLLY K. The latter was sent into command soon after the break and held sway to the furlong marker while racing on her own courage, but faltered during the final stages and could not withstand the winner. BEAUTY POISE was rushed between horses on the near turn to enter more serious contention, then flattened out. CHALL REWARD was in close quarters on the far turn. BETETHEL was never dangerous.
