Vulcans Forge to Keep Governors Engagement Will Arrive at Detroit Track This Morning From New York FAIR GROUNDS, Detroit, Mich., June 14. — I. J. Collins Vulcans Forge, fleet and fashionably bred four-year-old son of Mah-moud and Burning Bright, will arrive here tomorrow morning and fill his important engagement in Saturdays 0,000 Governors Handicap, according to word received by Thurston Colglazier, who conditions a division of the Lancaster, Ohio, owned Collins stable. Vulcans Forge is topweight with 128 pounds for the week-end mile and one-sixteenth stake, and ships to the Fair Grounds with a brilliant record. Winner during his sophomore campaign of the Withers and Province Stakes, Vulcans Forge has held to his good form, and this year accounted for the 00,000 Santa Anita Handicap, the Claremont Handicap at the California track, and recently decided Suburban Handicap at Belmont Park. In the seven-furlong Claremont, the Collins colt turned back On Trust, Shim Ma-lone and Rippey after stepping the distance in 1:22%, then defeated Dinner Gong, Miss Grillo, Solidarity, On Trust, Stepfather and other high-class horses in the mile and one-quarter Santa Anita, which was decided in 2:02% over a sloppy track. Perhaps Vulcans Forges latest victorious achievement in the Suburban was one of the best performances of his colorful career, the son of Mahmoud shouldered 124 pounds in the Belmont Park fixture and sped the Suburban route in 2:03. Following the Collins star to the wire in that stake were such outstanding thoroughbreds as But Why Not, Flying Missel, Loser Weeper, a nominee for the Governors; Faultless, Conniver and Chains, among others. With Woolford Farms Delegate, the Chicago invader, already on the grounds, and the presence of Vulcans Forge in the Governors, the Saturday middle-distance stake is seen as one of the seasons highlights here.
