Stewards at Detroit Announce Ruling in Stimulation Case FAIR GROUNDS, Detroit, Mich., June 14. — The stewards of the Michigan Racing Association posted the following ruling here today: "The chemist employed by the Michigan State Racing Commission reported that the saliva sample taken from Lees Summit after he won the second, race June 7, 1949, showed a positive reaction for caffeine, a stimulant. "Marion Barton, trainer of Lees Summit, is suspended effective June 15 for negligence, and it is recommended to the Michigan State Racing Commission that the suspension be continued through October 15, 1949. "The purse won by Lees Summit is hereby forfeited and redistributed as follows: "First money to Jimmie, property of Mrs. R. Carruthers; second money to Blank Dismay, property of J. C. Ellis; third money to Mintlock, property of C. Rufi, and fourth money to Lucky Champ, property of the Detroit Stable, Inc. "The betting on the race is no way affected. "Stable foreman Leo Wells and groom D. W. McCall are suspended effective June 15 for the balance of the meeting and are denied all privileges of the grounds during that period for negligence in the above case."
