: Dixiana Stable Due At Arlington Today Shy Guy and Star Reward Top Eighteen-Horse Unit, Ten of Whom Are Juveniles ARLINGTON PARK, Arlington Heights, 111., June 14.— Dixianas greatly improved Shy Guy, accepted handicap champion of the Detroit season, and his capable stable-mate, Star Reward, recent winner of the Grosse Point Handicap at the Motor City course, head a powerful stable of 18 thoroughbreds scheduled to arrive here tomorrow morning. The Dixiana horses are under the supervision of trainer Jack C. Hodgins and are expected to furnish considerable opposition to the powerful Calumet Farm outfit during the impending meeting, which begins here next Monday. Included among the 18 Dixiana representatives are 10 two-year-olds, most of them royally bred. They are reported to have shown extreme speed in their morning drills at Detroit. In addition to Shy Guy and Star Reward, others in the Dixiana contingent are Galloway, an exceptional racer, who is pointing for the important turf course events here; Fleeting Star, a three-year-old of much promise; Arcanum, Prudent Don, Timeltel, Makin Trouble, Dream Hand, Concordat, Thrifty, Sabaean, Wondring, Yondetega, Platform, Heres Hoping, Fleet Factor and an unnamed black filly by Teddys Comet — Jemima Lee. Won Alger Memorial Shy Guy proved beyond all doubt that he was the best handicap horse to campaign this season at Detroit when he annexed the 5,000 Colonel F. M. Alger Memorial Handicap recently. The handsome bay son of Challedbn — Tootsie Cake shouldered the heavy burden of 130 pounds and smothered his opposition with a*turn of speed that carried him under the line four and one-half lengths ahead of his opposition. It marked his fourth consecutive handicap victory, having won a pair of such events in Kentucky before shifting activity to the Motor City track. The Dixiana colorbearer is one of the few horses this year to have come within threatening distance of the Calumet sensation, Coaltown. In the Widener, Coal-town carried 123 pounds against Shy Guys 120 and beat the latter by two lengths. Jockey Robert Lee Baird, who has been enjoying considerable success at Detroit, will accompany the Dixiana horses. He is first string rider for the stable. Baird won several stakes during the Arlington Park meeting, last year. In addition to the Dixiana group, the remaining Calumet horses will arrive from the east tomorrow. Even though he has not started since last fall, Citation remains head man of the great organization. He has been training at Belmont Park. Along with Citation in the final shipment will be Ponder, winner of the Kentucky Derby; the phenomenally-fast Coaltown, and Wistful, the latest sensation among the three-year-old fillies.
