Happy C. Given Lincoln Top Impost of 119 Pounds Th ree-Year-OId Volcanic High On Scale With 118 Assignment WASHINGTON PARK, Homewood, HI., June 14. — Happy C, fleet gelding owned by* Peter A. B. Widener m., has been assigned top weight of 119 pounds for the 5,000 Lincoln Handicap, mile and one-quarter event that will headline Saturdays program when the Lincoln Fields Racing Association completes its 30-day meeting. The six-year-old son of Roman — Black Lashes, provided one of the highlights of the Illinois season in his most recent start when he lowered the local track record over the turf course and in so doing also hung out a new American standard for a mile and one-sixteenth. His time was 1:43. The gelding carried 117 pounds on this notable occasion and this apparently caused racing secretary Lawrence C. Bogenschutz to penalize him to the extent of making him high weight in the Lincoln. The Walmac Farms three-year-old, Volcanic, is the top weight on the scale in the field, for he has been allotted only one pound less than Happy C. The handsome son of Ambrose Light won over this-track recently and it is believed that he will fancy the mile and one-quarter distance. Gangway, Paul L. Kelleys bargain horse who won the La Salle Handicap is rated at 116 pounds. However, it is not likely that he will start in the race. Following are the Lincoln weights: Horse. Wt. Horse Wt.
