MISS TEXAS, never far back, finished well under steady handling and wore down HELENCHEN in the last strides. HELEN-CHEN went to the front early, established a clear lead before reaching the stretch, drifted out on the final turn and could not hold the winner, just missing. BUCK WEAVER closed with a rush, but could not overtake the leaders. MEYERSDALE raced wide throughout, losing all chance. TOLECA never was dangerous after the start. AUGUST raced well to the stretch, then tired. POTSEY was unable to enter serious contention while under weak handling. BENADDI, taken up sharply at the break, was far back throughout. H. Cleary. WENT TO POST— 3:00. OFF AT 3:01 EASTERN STANDARD TIME. Start good from stall gate. Won driving; second and third the same. HIGH BOSS, a keen factor from the start, assumed command entering the stretch, suddenly swerved to the inside and impeded ON THE WAY, despite his riders effort to keep him straight, then held on resolutely to withstand ROYTIG, but was disqualified for fouling and placed fourth. ROYTIG raced evenly to the stretch and finished fast under punishment, but could not overtake HIGH BOSS. SOMA LAD raced wide throughout, but closed well when straight for the drive. ON THE WAY went to the front early, was tiring when bumped by HIGH BOSS near the sixteenth pole and failed to recover CRACKERJACK could not keep up. SPRING FOLLY tired after racing well to the stretch. QUINTERO was never dangerous. Scratched— 76211 Longtide, 110; 76568 Dover Road, 112. Soma Lad claimed by J. Paddock. MAMALOI, outrun to the stretch, responded to strong handling during the drive and wore down the leaders during the last sixteenth. CHIPPEWA CHIEF raced DEBABY into defeat before reaching the stretch, was over confidently handled after securing a clear advantage and failed to hold the winner. KINDLY MISS went evenly to the final turn, was sent to the inside for the drive and finished fast 4n a sharp effort. BLACK TWEETIE held on well and had no mishap. GOMEL was outrun. WAR HAL could not keep up after breaking alertly. DEBABY gave way after engaging CHIPPEWA CHIEF to the stretch. PLAYFUL ROSE was never a serious factor. Scratched— 75910 Leaping Moose, 118. CRIMSON PET went to the front early, made the pace to the stretch, then drifted out on the final turn and, after losing command, came again when straight for the drive to dispose of the leaders during the last sixteenth. IS THERE, never far back, reached the lead in the stretch, but could not withstand the winner. DIXIE FLYER, fractious during the post parade, steadily improved her position and finished well in a good effort. CROSS WISE had early speed, but drifted out entering the stretch and failed to rally when straight for the drive. ROYCE raced well to the final furlong, then faltered when roughed nearing the finish. HIGH COTTON was outrun. FLYING MANE could not keep up while racing on the extreme outside. LINEBACK never was a serious factor. Scratched— 72876 On the Aisle, 110. Overweight— High Cotton, 2 pounds. CARGO assumed command at once, made the pace r under occasional urging and faltered during the last seventy yards. ORK raced evenly without mishap. BLOCKY failed to respond when hard ridden through the stretch. BONNYVALE tired after engaging CARGO to the - last eighth. GALLANT SPAR lacked early speed. RIBARD began sluggishly. Sallee; bred by Charles E. Hagyard. WENT TO POST-5:05. OFF AT 5:06 EASTERN STANDARD TIME. Start good from stall gate for all but PARK PIGEON. Won driving; second and third the same. MONA, away fast, saved ground while reserved to the upper turn, was then sent to the outside and, responding well when shaken up, assumed command in the stretch and drew clear under brisk handling. PARK PIGEON, away sluggishly and in close quarters at the first turn, worked way forward steadily to the stretch, but was unable to seriously threaten the winner when set down in the drive. PELLA, away fast, made the pace for three-eighths, then dropped back, but came again entering the stretch and, after making a bold bid, faltered during the final sixteenth. KOSADUS went to the front before goign a half, made the pace until inside the stretch, then weakened. MAGNET was outrun. SKY BLONDE never was prominent. LOVELY NYMPH raced wide throughout.
