Raschi went seven innings before he was removed for a pinch hitter, but gave up only three runs and six hits during his stint. Meanwhile the Yanks pounded three Sox hurlers for nine hits, including home runs by Yogi Berra and rookie Micky Mantle, the first of the season for each. The three-way trade with the Cleveland Indians and Philadelphia Athletics paid off for the Sox in a hurry today. In the first inning Paul Lehner, second man at bat, singled for the Sox, and Orestes Minoso, following him, hit a home run into the center field bullpen. It was Minoso s first home run of the season. Lehner came from the Athletics and Minoso from the Indians in the trade. Tally Winning Markers in Fourth But this two-run lead was short lived. In the second Berra was hit by a pitched ball, advanced on Phil Rizzutos single and both scored when Mantles grounder rolled between Minosos legs. In the fourth the Yanks tallied their winning markers as Joe Collins and Rizzuto singled and advanced on Raschis sacrifice. Collins scored on Mantles fly to center while Rizzuto came in on Gerry Colemans single. Berras circuit blow provided an insur- ance run in the fifth, while Mantles 440- foot liner scored Raschi, who had doubled, for even greater protection. Berra was replaced by Charlie Silvera to rest his right elbow, injured when he was hit in the second, while Joe DiMaggio stayed out of the lineup and went to Mercy Hospital to have another x-ray examina- tion of his right shoulder. DiMaggio had the shoulder x-rayed at Lenox Hill Hospital in New York last Sat-l urday. Dr. Sidney Gaynor, club physician, said the examination showed a strained tendon but no bone injury of any kind and DiMag played in the week-end games against the Washington Senators. Before leaving for the hospital today, the Yankee outfielder complained of a "crick" in his neck. Saturday he said the injury was a recurrent one that "would work it-. self out in a few days."
