ANNIE OAKLEY, allowed to race on her own ocurage early, circled the field while responding to intermittent pressure, assumed command just inside the furlong pele and drew clear. LILLIAN CLARKE, rated in close attendance to the pace, assumed command entering the stretch, but was no match. SALIENT alternated in setting the pace into the stretch and faltered. NEREID, crowded back while on the inside early, failed to seriously threaten. PIRATE GOLD was practically eliminated when she went in the air at the break.
