TECHNICOLOR was rated close to the leaders until the far turn, then moved steadily on the outside to catch FASHIONED in the final sixteenth and won going away under pressure. FASHIONED went to the front early to open up a good lead, but was unable to resist the winner and just lasted to hold JOHNS DATE. The latter finished fairly well after having raced close up. PHANTOM HEELS was in close quarters on the inside on the backstretch, but closed fairly well. COURTS MAUDE was forced to take up twice in the first three-eighths. ETERNAL FLIRT, going as if easily best, was forced to race around several horses on the first turn to reach a strong position, then headed the field when ready to draw away in the stretch. IVY BOY closed ground gamely in the middle of the track in the stretch. INFINOTTO was always a forward contender. UNCLE ROB took command on the backstretch, but faltered in the run home. SURVEY failed to figure seriously. DOLLYS BEAUTY had some early speed. SAXON KNIGHT, going in good form, forced GAY DUCHESS when the latter was making the pace and, taking a short lead on the stretch turn, held on doggedly to win narrowly. FAST DONNA assumed a contending place early and, although racing wide in the stretch, finished strongly. GAY DUCHESS held on tenaciously to finish in a dead-heat for second place with FAST DONNA. URBANITE, although required to race wide, closed some ground JEANIE DREW tired. HATTIESBURG was crowded right after the start and forced to take up. OCEAN SAND was never a serious contender. MERRY TUDOR sprinted to the front a after going a short distance and, rated cleverly while holding a short advantage, drew out in the stretch to win v handily. MY WASH was never far away and raced along steadily in a good effort. GRAND ISLE was outrun to the stretch, then responded to urging between horses to finish gamely. BRAVE LT. followed the pace of WICHITA LASS closely to the far turn, then forged to the front to draw away under urging in the final sixteenth. WICHITA LASS showed good speed in pacemaking, but was not good enough to held the winner, although best of the others. TIMUS lacked early speed and made a belated move in the stretch. LIKE STONE went evenly. BEST ARRAY was in close quarters on the first turn and forced to take back. MINOROME weakened. HOUSTON BOY was in close quarters soon after the start and stumbled, unseating his rider. JIMMYS DOLL was never a serious threat. Scratched— 264072 Alabama Belle, 103. HYPOSTYLE soon sprinted to the front on the inside and, taken under light restraint after assuming a good advantage, drew out when given free rein in the last eighth to be an easy winner. NOT SORRY made a good move around the far turn and loomed as a possibility momentarily, but was not good enough. SIR DAVID finished well to catch BREZNO in the closing strides. BREZNO and TEXAS RAIN weakened. HABERDASHERY was in close quarters on the first turn and forced to take back, was never dangerous thereafter. Overweight— Hypostyle, 4 pounds. SUGAR PETE was saved close to the pace setters in ttie first half mile, then moved up to challenge and, after going along with OPENING DAY to the stretch turn, drew away from the latter to win under hand riding. OPENING DAY was well rated and resisted stubbornly for a brief period, then gave way. BODENS PAL was badly outrun for half the distance, but came courageously in the last quarter. EASY BUY attempted to bear out on the first turn and had to be iaken in hand, but raced well thereafter. INACCESSIBLE failed to threaten at any stage. The others tired. ICANC went to the front at once and, never being permitted to get too far away from his opposition, had something in reserve when challenged by CLOY in the stretch and held the latter W the end. CLOY made a bold bid after leaving the backstretch and was pressing the winner. COQUINET responded gamely when urged and raced well to the finish. SCOTLAND YARD made up some ground.
