OMABERRY, away slowly and outrun until nearing the stretch, was taken to the outside for the drive and, responding to strong handling, wore down the leaders in the last sixteenth. ENGAGED began alertly and raced forwardly placed throughout, reached the lead between calls in the stretch, but could not withstand the top one, although much the best of the others. COCK CROW could not get to the leaders when set down in the drive. GOOD HEAVENS, in close quarters nearing the stretch, was unable to threaten the leaders when clear. UNCLE DOC bore out entering the stretch and never was dangerous. MANITOWOC, much used racing RAWLINS into defeat, held a short lead when settled in the stretch, then tired. LITTLE BOOKIE, forwardly placed from the start, raced WISE CHOICE into defeat entering the stretch, was hard ridden thereafter and won going away. SHOGOIN raced evenly to the stretch, finished willingly, but could not threaten the top one. WISE CHOICE began fast, made the pace to the stretch, but failed to stay when set down in the drive. COLORADO MISS lost ground nearing the stretch and could not threaten the leaders when straight for the drive. MUNSEE MISS failed to stay after showing early speed. GOOD-SHOPPER was outrun. LUCILE T. had a rough trip. EASY DIXIE, on the outside throughout, tired after racing well to the stretch. HAY ELSIE raced wide. LANDS END raced well from the start, gradually improved position to the stretch, then responded to good handling and wore down FLY OUT in the last sixteenth. FLY OUT, never far back and well ridden, reached the lead when settled for the drive, but could not withstand the winner. JESSICA B. went to the front early, made the pace until inside the : stretch, but faltered when challenged by FLY OUT. LICTOR could not better his position when set down ! for the drive. ACTNICE lacked early speed and was never dangerous. COUNTESS RUTH was outrun. OLD FIDDLE, on I the outside during the run to the upper turn, assumed command after leaving the backstretch, opened a clear lead and won with something left. STONY RIVER, a sharp factor from the start, was unable to hold the winner, but was much the best of the others. VULCAIN SUN could not get to the leaders when set down through the stretch and had no mishap. GEE-LIGHT raced on the outside from the beginning, but failed to respond when i hard urged during the drive. NANCHANG began fast, but dropped back immediately after the break. CATSMEOW, away slowly, raced evenly to the stretch, was sent to the middle of the track for the drive and, responding readily to vigorous handling, wore down the leaders during the last sixteenth. MONTES ACE, rank at the post, began fast and raced forwardly placed from the outset, reached the lead between calls during the drive but could not hold the top one. AIR PATROL was sent to the front early, engaged BIG ROAD to the last eighth and weakened nearing the finish. JIMPIN, in close quarters after the start, raced well when clear. FANFARE, bothered immediately after the start, recovered under steady handling and secured a good position, again suffered interference at the upper turn, but came strongly when clear and, after disposing of the leaders, won but had little left. KING CLOVER was hustled to the front early, made the pace until inside the stretch, then drifted to the inside during the last sixteenth and impeded BERNWOOD, could not hold the winner, but was disqualified for fouling and placed third. BERNWOOD, a sharp factor from the start, was racing prominently near the end when crowded by KING CLOVER and failed to recover when clear. BATTLE MORN lacked early speed, lost much ground while racing in the middle of the track, remained on the outside and closed willingly under mild urging. THE GINK, outrun to the stretch, finished strongly in a game effort. ABBE STING could not better his position when set down through the stretch. FIGHTING BACK lost ground at the stretch turn, bore to the inside during the drive and tired after making a mild bid. GOLDEN BIRCH was never prominent. BREVITE was through early. PUR SANG had a rough trip. SPUR ON could not keep up. KINGS HOPE quit after showing early speed. GAY HUNTER was overmatched.
