Tom Brown, who served as steward at Sportsmans Park last year, stopped off for day of racing before going to Beulah Park, where he will serve as starter. Apprentice Robert Peabody, who is under contract to the J. D. Mikel stable, has received notice to report for physical examination prior to induction into the armed forces. Jockey H. Holcomb got in from Hot Springs and reported to George Gerber, who has a large stable here. Trainer Irving Gansel registered the horses of Sidney Alexander, Chicago owner, the runners are Piragua, Bye Bunny, Jack Banner, Rocky Sir, Called, Cuddlesome, Jetsam, Herbie G., Dizzy and Evening Story. Trainer J. A. Kroeck brought Mr. Fox and Otter Brook from Florida. The horses will race for Mrs. M. McCabe. Jockey Willie Lee Johnson, who recently arrived at Sportsmans Park, departed for Churchill Downs, where he will have the mount on Fighting Back. He will return to the Cicero track after fulfilling his engagement. Condition books for the first ten days of the Beulah Park meeting arrived and were distributed. The meeting opens May 5. The swelling in his ankle having subsided, jockey Harold Keene, who was forced to cancel his engagements in the last three races Monday, returned to the saddle today. The contract on apprentice Robert Lynch, who has ridden a winner at this meeting, has been purchased by H. R. Fin-ley from George Gerber. The price was not disclosed. Stall application blanks for the coming spring meeting at Ak-Sar-Ben Field, Omaha, Nebr., which gets under way late this month, are being distributed by trainer L. B. Kindle. Williard Proctor has taken over the training of the three-year-old filly, Mu-nising, for owner J. Roberts. Proctor replaces trainer C. Lang. Trainer L. A. Janicki was an arrival from Gulfstream Park with Hadamar, Valleys Pal and Cinder King. They race in the colors of A. Trout.
