ETERNAL WAY was rushed between horses to open a clear lead rounding the far turn, retained his advantage under pressure and was doing his best at the end. FIRST SALVO began fast from the outside, readily relinquished the lead, to the winner, but held on determinedly in a good effort. CASEIN gradually improved position from between Worses, then finished well while attempting to -lug in. LISTEN TIGER saved ground after a slow beginning and closed steadily on the final turn. LOTOFTOWN had a rough trip. CONEWAGO faltered. PO GAL could not keep up while on the outside. IN MY BONES was outrun. ARTHURIAN, in close quarters early, quit. ORCO challenged BOLO LASS for the lead from the outside, then gamely wore down BRIDAL TOAST after that one had saved ground to reach the front, and was up in the last strides.2 BRIDAL TOAST was quickly sent through an opening next to the rail and wrested command on the stretch turn, then held on determinedly and just failed to last. FRAUD never was far back, finished well, but did not threaten the top pair. BOLO LASS was alertly handled setting the pace, was crowded slightly by ORCO in the early stretch and then weakened, suddenly. BYRD PARK appeared dangerous outside horses on the final turn, then tired and luageH in. FAMERA could not keep up early, then , was taken in hand when blocked by BYRD PARK in the drive. MISS DIRECT was outrun. JEWELS FERN was very green and remained under a light hold throughout. SUPTELA was brought to the inside early, slipped through next to the rail challenging INAJIFFY and, under a prolonged drivej proved best. INAJIFFY alertly had the most speed from the beginning, responded determinedly, was challenged by SUPTELA and fought it cut to the end. ON GUARD raced forwardiy placed and well, to best the others. NEVER BETTER was unsble to join the leaders under urging and finished evenly. DIAMOND HEAD lacked early speed and was blocked inside Tl CAILLOU while attempting to improve position in the drive. SUGAR ALLEY stumbled. badly leaving the gate and was not a factor. SOME PARTY quit badly. Scratched— 27801 Hysis, 105; 28247 Wave Again, 114. TELENEWS was under pressure to shake free from TIDEHEAD early, then easily drew into a long lead and won with something left. WILLITSVILLE, away slowly, was lucky to find room next to the inside rail and closed strongly in the final stages. TIDEHEAD broke alertly, could not stay with the winner after the initial quarter-mile and weakened. SHERRY was not a serious Hues1. SEABRIGHT was outrun. MISCHIANZA was through early. BUSY PAT was hustledalong within striking distance, gradually gained when hard urged in the final run and was up at the end. SENORIL "was in hand while prominently placed on the outside, responded willingly when shaken up for the drive and closed, fast, but hung in the last yards. WENTWORTH saved ground while gradually reaching closer contention, was closing swiftly when he entered close quarters between the leaders and was taken in hand in the final sixteenth, then could not get up. DONNA BOORSE lacked early speed, as usual, then closed fastest of all while saving ground in the drive. FREE AND EQUAL easily sprinted into a clear early lead and held sway into the final furlong before tiring. FATHER LINK began in uneven stride, was under intermittent urging while forcing the pace and was shuffled about while weakening at the end. WEST MILTON was unable to keep up. YES YOU, away slowly and taken under hard restraint to avoid running up on horses at the far turn, v/as brought to the extreme outside entering the stretch, then-closed fast and won going away. CAROLINA MISS was briskly handled and wrested command from between horses at the half mile, opened a clear lead and weakened only at the end. BOLD JO was a keen factor and held on fairly well in the drive. WESTHAMPTON, fractious at the gate, was steadied early, made a mild bid under strong urging on the turns, then weakened. HIGH TREND began sluggishly and trailed for a half mile, then closed with belated courage. MR. BUSTER was in close quarters on the far turn and quit. UP BEAT showed nothing. PENNON, slowest away at the start, saved ground and reached a contending position early, easily assumed command under light pressure and then increased his advantage while winning as his . rider pleased. LETS DANCE was intermittenly urged and gradually improved position from the outside, then could not menace in the final run. RECORD PLAYER easily set the pace for six furlongs, readily gave way to the winner and weakened. VORTEX made a mild bid on the stretch turn and tired. HEARTH MOUSE quit. JITTERS was outrun.
