Borgemenke Has Outland Length in Clear at Wire Ends Bold Bolos Winning Streak With Length Score at Suffolk By AVERY BROWN Staff Correspondent SUFFOfjK DOWNS, East Boston, Mass., May 17. — The combination of Bar-Sue Stables Outland and apprentice Ralph Borgemenke teamed perfectly in the United Nations Purse at Suffolk Downs this afternoon and defeated five energetic rivals at a mile and a sixteenth. The winning margin of the game son of Bahram. was one length over Pine Tree Farms Bold Bolo, with Anthony Cataldos Tilenny finishing third, six lengths back of the runner-up. Princeling, Lionheart and Chancescript completed the field and finished in the order named. A sudden change in the mid-summer weather New England had been enjoying cut into todays crowd which totaled a mere 8,283. Those among .the patrons who installed Outland a 4-5 choice received a gratifying thrill as they witnessed their favorite shake off the challenges of every member of the field with the exception of Chancescript. Outland broke alertly and was quickly positioned close to the leading Lionheart as tltey made their way to the clubhouse turn. The others were close up with about five lengths separating the first and last horse. Still in hand as he passed the half-mile pole, Outland was moved closer to the leader and therefore escaped bunching ?as those in the rear made their moves. Coming out of the backstretch, Borge menke had the ultimate winner to the fore and Tilenny rushed very boldly at him. That move quickly diminished and Princeling and Bold Bolo charged. The latter was making a brave bid to extend a skein of six straight triumphs but the best he could do was get within a half-length of Outland at the furlong pole. From that point on the winner drew clear to win his first race of 1951 and make him a decided threat in the forthcoming distance handicaps. His time for the distance was a respectable 1:44% over a fast racing strip.
