Stonesifer Signs Cards/ Contract for Pro Season Don Stonesifer, All-American from Northwestern, yesterday signed a contract with the Chicago Cardinals of the National Football League. The Redbirds only a few days ago signed Jerry Groom, Notre Dame Ail-American, thus their roster now reads nine signed for the 1951 pay-for-play season. Not only is Stonesifer an AH-American but he possesses the additional qualifications of having a World War IE. service record and a 4A military status. Stonesifer was the Cards No. 3 draft choice. Coach Curley Lambeau was jubilant over the signing of Stonesifer after he and president Ray Bennigsen had several luncheon dates before accomplishing the mission at hand. Lambeau said: "Don is an all-around player. People think of him as a pass-grabber because of his Big Ten record of 378 yards gained and; his record of catching 13 passes against Minnesota in 1950. Hes that all right, a good offensive end, but hes sound, real good, on defense, too."
