Discovery-Bride Elect Filly Named Champion Takes Down Honors at Annual Yearling Show Held at Pimlico PIMLICO, Baltimore, Md., May 17.— A. G. Vanderbilts grand-looking brown filly by Discovery— Bride Elect, by High Time, today was named champion in the seventeenth annual yearling show held in the Pimlico paddock under the sponsorship of the Maryland Horse Breeders Association. The youngster received the honor after having won divisional honors in the class for fillies, foaled in Maryland in 1950, the produce of mares covered in Maryland in 1949. Lou P. Doherty served as judge at the show. Reserve champion in the judging was .Larry MacPhails Dicovery — Shining Eyes filly, who was the runner-up behind the Vanderbilt lassie in both classes. In class 1, limited to colts, foaled in Maryland in 1950, the produce of mares covered in Maryland in 1949, the winner was Proud Son, a bay colt by Discovery— Chalmer, who is owned by E. Taylor Chewn-ing. He gained the top award over an Occupy colt belonging to Mr. and Mrs. Samuel E. Bogley, and a Director J. E. colt, the property of G. Ray Bryson. The class 2, for colts foaled in Maryland in 1950, the produce of mares covered in states other than Maryland, saw Larry MacPhails Sun Again— Beth Bon colt judged "tops" over Vanderbilts Devil Diver colt from Canfli, and Charles E. Nelsons Bull Lea colt from Donita M. A Revoked — Pesterheim filly, owned by Mr. and Mrs. Nelson took honors in the lassie division for those foaled in Maryland, the produce of mares covered in states other than Maryland. She won over MacPhails, Bimelech— Lady Mayflower filly and C. Ewing Tuttles Amphitheatre— Spirit filly. The latter is name Amphispirit. In the final "get of sire" division, youngsters representing Vanderbilts Discovery won honors for that stallion, over sons and daughters of Nelsons Equipoise stallion, Alaking.
