BURTS REWARD did not endeavor to be prominent early, saved ground on the turn, was very fortunate to obtain room on the rail in the drive and drew clear after disposing of the leaders. DARING MAID raced on nearly even terms for the lead from the beginning and turned in a good effort. STRUTIN dueled for command on the inside,. came away from the rail a trifle in the drive and faltered only slightly. LIFTER closed with a belated rush. POP-BOTTLE bore out and raced wide after a half mile. BOLD BYRD made a game bid in the stretch and hung. KIBOSH faltered in the closing furlong. Scratched— 28187 Transatlantic, 108. EASY WHIRL saved ground while within striking distance, displaced MISSION when ready and won fully extended. The latter went into a clear lead shortly after the start, continued gith good courage, but could not resist the winner. BIG INDIAN trailed early, was forced wide entering the stretch and closed willingly. SANCTUARY was guided to the middle of the track entering the stretch and failed to respond for the drive. ISOPERA had no excuse. BIMFORT, under hard punishment before a half mile, gave way in the drive.- Scratched-27501 AH Is Well, 121. RENO SAM, well placed from the break, went into command when ready, bore in badly in the run to the wire and outgamed FONDA. The latter was turned about when the start came, worked his way up on the inside and just missed. QUIET closed strongly after a slow beginning to finish in a dead-heat for third with ESCARP. The latter, left flat footed at the beginning, moved up to be a sharp factor after the seventh fence, faltered nearing the end and finished on even terms with QUIET. TROUT BROOK was outrun. EXTRA ran out after the second fence and tired after the sixth obstacle: MOOSE RIVER quit. FLAG HO, on nearly even terms for the lead, was forced out by EXTRA and quit. Won handily; second and third driving. THE PIMPERNEL was on nearly even terms for the lead, began to draw away when shaken up in the stretch and won handily. JET JEWEL vied for the lead on the outside, held on stubbornly, but was no match for the winner. BRER FOX was prominent from the beginning, but lacked a closing rally. ROMAN SECRET tired in the final furlong. MT. HARO veered out at the break. TURKS CAP was outrun, as was CLOSED SEASON. Scratched— King High, 118. FIFTH RACE 1 MILE. RIVERLANE, reserved early, went through on the rail to threaten mildly in the stretch and hung. TEDDIES IMP was used up making the early pace.
