Oyer 300 Horses Now Stabled at Riyer Downs CINCINNATI, Ohio, May 19.— Following the close of the Churchill Downs meeting Saturday, many stables vanned their charges to River Downs to await the opening on Memorial Day, May 30. Charlie Peak, stall superintendent, stated more than 100 horses arrived over the week-end and more than 300 have already been bedded down. A number of other thoroughbreds reaphed here from Chicago and New England, while others came from scattered points. Racing director Henry Green came down from Columbus, Ohio, Sunday, and was gratified with the record handle at Beulah Park. He returned to trie Grove City track early Monday morning, and will return here next Monday to remain and complete details for the gala River Downs opener. Before his departure for Columbus, Green said: "Judging from the response we are getting, River Downs is certain to enjoy the best meeting in the history of the track." Green also announced that the annual press, radio and TV; party would be held at the Sheraton Gibson Hotel, Sunday afternoon, May 25.
