Charles Coburn Pace Run In Two Divisions Tonight Chief Wingay and Maige Mc Top Respective Ends of Maywood Race MAYWOOD PARK, Maywood, 111., May 19. — Sixteen young stake pacers have been named for the two divisions of the ,400 Charles Coburn Pace tomorrow night at Maywood Park. The stake will honor the actor who became a rabid harness racing fan and owner after appearing in several motion pictures which featured the sport. Eight horses will travel the mile in each division, the first going as the fifth and eighth races and the second as the sixth and ninth. Chief Wingay, 1 owned by Orlando Thiel of Plymouth, Wis., opens the choice in the first division off his impressive early season record. The four-year-old son of Chief Counsel has started ;three times to date, winning twice and finishing a strong second in the other effort. Jack Kane will drive Chief Wingay from the No. 3 position in the first dash and from the pole in the second. Selka Mc, unbeaten in three starts before slipping to a third her last time out. is considered Chief Wingays most serious threat. The consistent four-year-old mare will bear the colors of the Cox and McLernon stable* Marengo, 111. A dark horse contender is -Seth Parker, dash winner of the Northern Illinois Futurity in 1951, but winless this season. Completing .the first division are Anri-vilie, Imprudent,, Rosita Abbe, Direct Song and Rose Castle. Maige Mc will shoot for his sixth decision of the year in the second division. The four-year-old Eton pacer, owned by H. A. Meyer, Plymouth, Wis., won a dash of the ,000 North Side stake in his last appearance. Ralphs Pride draws the pole in the opening dash and Jeffrie Jester will start from the inside in the return mile.
