Delawares Four Chase Stake Races Draw 117 Oedipus, Jam, Lone Fisherman And Hampton Roads on Roster DELAWARE PARK, Stanton, Del., May 19. — Delaware Parks four steeplechsae stakes, to be renewed during the May 29-July 5 meeting, attracted a total of 117 nominations, which include virtually every leading jumper in the land. The brush phase of racing at Delaware will get under way June 12 with the running of the 0,000 Tom Roby Steeplechase Stakes at about two miles. This fixture is for four-year-olds and upward who have never won a sweepstakes, except hurdles, spring maiden and at hunt meetings. The next special is the 0,000 Georgetown Steeplechase Handicap, at the same distance, June 20. Then comes the ,000 Delaware Spring Maiden Steeplechase, same distance, one of a series of~three races at Belmont Park, Aqueduct and Delaware for non-winners over brush at the closing time — March 10, 1952. • " ~— - The final stake opportunity for the jumpers is on June 27 in the 0,000 Indian River Steeplechase Handicap at about two and a half miles. This fixture drew 24 nominations. The Georgetown attracted 25, the Roby 33 and the Spring Maiden, 35. Mc-Hughs Jam, Georgetown, Spring Maiden and Indian River; Mrs. E. duPont Weirs The Mast, Georgetown and Indian River; F. Ambrose Clarks Lone Fisherman, Indian River; Montpeliers Hampton Roads, Georgetown and Indian River; George M. Humphreys Lock and Key, Georgetown "and Indian River; Rokeby Stables Crooning Wind and American Way, Georgetown arid Indian River, also Genancoke, Georgetown; L. W. Jennings Navy Gun, Georgetown and Indian River; G. H. Bostwicks Palaja, Tom Roby, Georgetown and Indian River; Brookmeade Stables Flaming Comet, Tom Roby, Georgetown and Indian River, and His Boots, Georgetown and Indian River. This is, of course, merely a partial listing of ranking nominees.
