Lucky Codine Seeks Another Victory Bishop Racer Has Seven Foes Today Winner of Last Two Outings Faces Countess In, Asphalt, Robust in Lincolns Dellor HAWTHORNE, Cicero, 111., May 19.— Eight good sprinters, including seven which have won recently, were named through the entry box today to start in Lincoln Fields feature race, for Tuesday, the Dellor Purse. The distance is six furlongs and the purse is ,500. Most recent winner among the octet is W. H. Bishops Mississippi-bred Lucky Codine, a five-year-old gelding by Portco-dine out of Lucky Lil, by Percentage. This fellow made it two in a row when he won at this meeting last Thursday: He had previously scored a victory on April 29, at Sportsmans Park. Thus, he will be trying for his third consecutive win when he comes out for the Dellor Purse. Other recent winners named for the Dellor, which is a 0,000 claimer, are B. W. Landys Asphalt, M. H. VanBergs Countess In, E. C. Roths Challcote, Blossom Stables Light Moon, Mr. and Mrs. H. G. Knotts My Dividend, Hasty House Farms Robust. Charles Swans Swanees Penny making his third start of the current season, completes the field. This one, a four-year-old son of Snark, out of Flinette, by Flint Shot, finished third and fourth, respectively in his first two starts of the year. My Dividend, a five-year-old Menow mare out of Oncave, by Pompey, was a . winner on opening day at this meeting. It was her third victory in seven starts this season. The two other mares, Asphalt and . Countess In, are among the most formidable contenders for the Dellor. The former is gifted with a lot of early foot, and is usually first out of the gate. She is often a hard one to catch. The daughter of War Jeep — Palmer Park, by Cohort, has won two of her seven starts this season, and on all but one of these seven occasions got part of each purse. In her latest essay she finished third to Is There, and Lilly Valenti. Countess In Consistent Sort Countess In, now seven, has been a consistent racer in six seasons of campaigning, -frequently meeting stake horses and occasionally beating them. The old mare has won one of her four starts this year. By the unraced Count Gallahad, himself a son of the great Anita Peabody, and out of Reigh Helen, by Reigh Count, Countess In was bred in California by jockey John Long-den, who only last week rode his 4,000th winner, first American rider and second in the world to accomplish such a record. Robust is another of a growing list of good "made" horses purchased by Mr. and Mrs. Allie E. Reuben, of Hasty House Farm, Toledo, * Ohio. He was bought from his trainer, Harry Trotsek, who raced him in his wifes name at two. Robust, now four, won his first and only start of the current year at Louisville, beating Well Worth It, Almenow and others. He is a chestnut colt by Fighting Step, out of Rodia, by Rosolio. Light Moon has been a good winner for the* Blossom Stable. He was purchased as a two-year-old in training by his present owner. Now four, he has won three of his 10 starts this year following a successful season last year. .On March 8 at 5ulf-stream Park he was claimed for ,000, but Blossom Stable took him back for 0,000 at his next start. He is by Hunters Moon IV., out of Rheingold Maid, by Sun Hatter. Light Moons latest race was a victory over Our Snick, Wisenheimer, and others at Sportsmans Park. Tuesdays program includes three middle distance races, two of which are at one and one-sixteenth miles, the eighth and final being at the distance of one and three-sixteenths. There is a race for two-year-old maidens which drew 14, several of which may become candidates for the Miss America Stakes on June 7.
