Thomas Simmons Consigns Entire Yearling Crop to Sale HOLLYWOOD PARK, Inglewood, Calif., May 19. — Thomas W. Simmons, a director of Hollywood Park and its former president, has consigned his entire crop of yearlings, consisting of seven head, all by the Calumet-bred flash, Free America, to the California Thoroughbred. Breeders Sale, to be conducted at Santa Anita Park in July. The yearlings are a choice lot, but interest will probably center in the handsome half-brother to Cover Up. Aside from Cover Ups kin, the yearlings from the stakes-winning Gallahue and the very consistent race mare Curds N Whey stack up as likely •to inspire high bidding from the horsemen. The yearlings from Gallahue and Curds N Whey are their first offspring. Both mares were popular performers over California tracks. The yearlings have been attracting horsemen to Suzy-Q Ranch, Puente, where they are being prepared for the auction by studmaster Butch White.
