ORANA, forwardly placed and saving ground, assumed command entering the stretch and withstood a sustained drive. FLYING HOOP, close up between horses most of the trip, was pressing at the end. IN CASH, sluggish in the early stages, moved readily on the outside to near the leaders, then hung. HURRY PASS was close up on the outside entering the stretch, ;S?2.5la«ri? 2ut GREAT, NECK showed speed from the start, held the lead until the final turn, then weakened. IRISH TALE had no mishap. CHINAWARE showed nothing. ELISANN was taken up sharply leaving the barrier and failed to recover in time to threaten. KING AUMAR quit. The others were outrun. MILL POINT steadied within striking distance of the leaders, gained room along the inside in the stretch and outgamed HI-PILATE. The latter rushed boldly after five furlongs, engaged the leaders entering the stretch, was caught in between horses and just missed. CAPT GALLAGHER closed stoutly to reach the leaders, hung and rode HI-PILATE close near the end. LUCKY DOG set the early pace, held on stubbornly when challenged, weakening in the final sixteenth. ANSWER MAN alternated in establishing the pace, tiring in the final furlong. REALTOR lost "ground on the turns. CANIS MAJOR was outrun. SAUCHIEHALL trailed most of the trip. DIBILLANE showed nothing. MARTHA P. went to the front at once, set a rapid pace, saved ground and held on . gamely. TIPPY DO, never far off the pace while under steadying restraint, rallied under late pressure and closed stoutly. ORCO steadied close up from the start, gained racing room along the rail, but failed to respond to pressure. SHELL DIVER caught tiring horses. DYNASTIC was between horses on the turn, stayed in, but failed to respond to urging. BROTHER MARCH faltered after a brief run on the final turn. PALAJE flashed brief speed. EXEMPLAR, close up on the outside to -the far turn, moved around the leaders and into the command before straightened for the drive, drew clear and maintained advantage under steady pressure. IN TASTE was sent up on the outside after three furlongs, drew near the leader, then, appeared to hang. MESTIZA was in close quarters forcing the pace, held on gamely, weakening inside the final furlong. FIGHTING BACK was closing with good energy at the end. EQUIHAZE was shuffled back when the field bunched on the far turn. FLY AROUND had no mishap. SCIPIO was unable to threaten. QUILLET, in hand while following colse to the pace, saved ground, but was unable to menace. EMPTY SEA set the early pace while racing very wide and held on fairly well to the end. FINDER KEEPER was bothered leaving the gate, and failed to respond when put to the drive, inside the final quarter mile. MR. SYRACUSE tired.
