FOURLEAFCLOVER, closest to the pace on the inside, took command in the stretch and outfinished COCKAHOOP. The latter was well placed from the start, threatened in the stretch; but was not good enough. ALLAH-VHY had good speed early and weakened badly the final furlong. BROKEN STRIP broke sluggishly and closed with good courage. WEDDING BAND had no excuse. GAINFUL tired. RECONTROL was through early. SISTER LOUISE,, confidently handled! gradually picked up the tiring leaders from the outside and was kept to mild urging to the end. NORWEST vied for the lead from the outset, put BALTIMORE JIM away in the early stretch, but could not resist the winner. THWARTED, hard ridden throughout, was sluggish early and responded only mildly .for the drive. ACE SCHOLAR was taken back from the early pace and was going well on the inside at the end: BALTIMORE JIM, hard held while racing with NORWEST, flattened out when asked for his best. ALLFLOR, reserved while not a great distance back, made up ground rapidly when called upon, went through on the inside to reach command about fifty yards from the wire and got the nod. SCARE PLAY made the pace from shortly after the start, was headed in the finish run, but came again in the concluding strides and just failed. SALEMAKER loomed a serious threat at the final hedge and weakened suddenly. ONEIDA, in close attendance of the pace on the outside, made a bad landing at the final hedge and failed to rally. NET RESULT, steadied along the early stages, was guided to the outside when ready to make his bid and wore down PIBROCH. The latter in good position from the outset, took command between calls the final furlong and just failed. HYP HOME went into a clear lead under brisk urging, drew out on the turn, and, without the benefit of a whip which was dropped leaving the turn, faltered in the drive. STRIKER PILOT made up ground between horses and closed with good courage. BIG IF was reserved behind the first flight, responded readily when urged, drew to a comfortable margin in the stretch, but was tiring near the end. DIAMOND HEAD was under snug restraint while outrun, moved through on the inside and gained the nod over TARAN for place. The- latter was rated off the early pace, rallied when asked for best, but could not be properly ridden while showing a tendency to lug in. THIRTY LOVE came from far back to be going-well at the end. BANJOIST flattened out when set down for the drive. FUGITIVE assumed a short lead between calls on the turn as PRINCESS ROSE quit, then weakened.
