Re pe to ire Engages Five Speedy Rivals As Garden State Park Meeting Resumes Mikell Coit Has Whiffenpoof/ Jess Linthicum, Rado Kid to Beat in Pitman Rotary Purse By WILLIAM C. PHILLIPS Staff Correspondent GARDEN STATE PARK, Camden, N. J., May 19. — Mrs. Nora A. Mikells flashy sprinter, Repetoire, heads a small band of six who will participate here tomorrow in the Pitman Rotary Purse. Following the customary "dark Monday," Garden State Park settles into the latter half of its 25-day schedule of operations, and, as usual, the long week-end finds several top runners coming out for fresh competition to make the eight-race program one of general interest. Repetoire will be a heavy favorite. Although there appears little basis to expect an upset, he does have some shifty opposition that includes Carlyn K Stables Whif-fenpoof, A. J. Crevolins Rado Kid, G. M. Cohens Jess Linthicum, Blue Stone Farms War Phar and Brookmeades Stables Safety. The allowance conditions of the feature call for Repetoire and Whiffenpoof to each shoulder 119 pounds, with concessions of from two to 12 pounds to their rivals. Mrs. Mikells four-year-old Happy Argo , colt is obviously in excellent condition, as exhibited by his last three outings, of which two were victories. On last Friday here at Garden State he found little trouble in drawing clear for the finish of a six-furlong test, defeating a band that appeared similar to those he will meet tomorrow. The time for his local victory was an unimpressive 1:12, but the track was on the "dead" side that afternoon, and he was really not required to run any faster. His last start in Maryland saw him narrowly defeated by Senator Joe in the Primary Day Handicap, and the 1:06 for the five and one-half furlongs in this event set a new Pimlico track record. Far behind both he and Senator Joe in this race were Rado Kid and Jess Linthicum, who have not been postward since. Repetoire, who was last year a sensation when he won four important stakes within the span of a month, has been out six times this season with a tally of two victories. ■ Hard-working trainer Al Jensen will lift jockey Charlie Burr in to the saddle for the Pitman Rotary, and Burr will send him away from the gate from the No. 2 stall. Little real opposition is expected if Repetoire shows his top form, but Whiffenpoof can make it very interesting if he runs back to his last race here when he finished but a nose behind Algasir in 1:10%, the fastest time registered at this meeting.
