MARCH BROWN moved up rapidly on the outside to engage the leaders and got the nod over FLITAROUND in the drive. The latter was prominent on the inside, took command by a narrow advantage in the stretch and just failed. BEWITCHING made the pace until leaving the turn and faltered in the drive. AMULIKA broke sluggishly, then worked her way up between horses. CHOC SODA tired. MAJA DE GOYA had good speed early and gave way. GRAYANTINE showed little. GARNET sulked. SECOND RACE 6 FURLONGS. BROWN DALTON, away alertly, was eased back and came to the rail early on the backstretch, forged through on the inside to dispose of LURING and won under mild punishment. The latter gradually established a clear advantage on the turn, then drifted out slightly when tiring near the end. DARK "PIGEON, slow to gain best stride, closed resolutely. HENRY D. M. had no excuse. SHALLOW BROOK saved ground on the turn while prominent, made a game bid when punished in the stretch and tired. CHALL WIND broke badly. RAMPALLION had speed and quit. SISTER COHEN lacked early speed, went between horses to improve position, found room on the rail for the drive and drew away after displacing MARK U. The latter moved up on the outside to gain command, drew out in the stretch and held on well, but could not resist the top one. STAGE LOVER was forced to race slightly wide, threatened in the stretch and shortened stride. BRIDES BOUQUET was prominent between horses and weakened. GALE TONI was outrun. LINDY saved ground while a sharp contender and tired. MANDY HUNTER swerved in the stretch, as did SWAP VOWS. RICEY had early speed and gave way. ELLENS LISA ran to the extreme outside on the turn. BESITA went into command shortly after entering the turn, drew clear under urging in the stretch and won fully extended. DEFLATION lacked speed to remain with the top pair and wore down NATHANIEL for the place. The latter vied for the lead on the rail, continued gamely until the final sixteenth mile and shortened stride. KNIGHT-AT-ARMS made up ground in the late stages after a slow start. BYNG was in a good position under hard restraint and saved ground, went through on the inside to take command, drew otft under brisk urging and came out of the race sore. MANTLE, never far back, loomed a threat on the final turn and wore down COUP-DE-VITE for the place. The latter alternated for command with ROYAL VALE from the start until nearing the eighth hurdle, then had. nothing left for the finish run. ONEIDA made bad landings at the second and fifth fences. HEAP BIG CHIEF vied for the lead between horses and faltered in the final strides. ELIXIR established a clear lead under brisk handling, continued gamely until the stretch and shortened stride. TOCOLI, cleverly ridden, was taken back in the run to the first turn to come to the rail, forced his way through on the inside to reach command, drew clear again between calls in the final furlong and, tiring in the concluding strides, lasted over POTPOURRI. The latter made the pace in the opening half mile, held on willingly when headed and was coming again at the end. THE DIVER, never far back, loomed a serious threat-in the stretch and hung. RISQUE ROUGE, permitted to drop back along the backstretch and final turn, made a mild bid in the stretch and lacked a closing rally. BELTON BOY had no excuse. DARING MAID lacked room on the first turn and gave way in the drive. HEAVEN SENT ran to the extreme outside leaving the final turn and finished near the outside rail.
