LINDEMAN Staff Correspondent FAIRMOUNT PARK, Collinsville, 111., June 13. — At a meeting held at the Fair-mount Park race course yesterday afternoon between the management, the several insurance companies and contractors, it was decided to start actual construction on the new roof for the grandstand and mutuel plant the first thing this morning. The contractors gave assurance that barring bad weather or other unforeseen incidents, they would have the plant in complete readiness for reopening of the plant June 27. They will work 16 hours a day for seven days a week until the job is completed. The big job of clearing away the debris was finished Thursday night after a large crew had been assembled almost as soon as the storm receded. It was found that the actual roof girders were left undamaged and recovering would be all that was necessary to go ahead. Racing secretary Jack J. Klucina will start at once to get out a new condition book that will take in the first seven days of the meeting which will run for 48 days, at the same schedule of five nights a week. There will be no let-up until the original date of closing September 1, which gives the Fairmount Park its full 60 days allotted to the track. The horse colony has remained almost the same as it was when the forced layoff came, but there will be several new stables shipped in to take the place of those that moved out during the week. As to riders, those who leftto ply their trade at other close -by meetings gave assurance that they would return when an opening date was announced. Those attending the meeting for the track were, president Daniel C. Parish, Willibald Schaffer, vice-president, Ray G. Bennigsen, secretary-treasurer and Edwin C. Moon, general manager.
