Smith, among the top t riders in New York for some seasons, is at j j Monmouth Park and in the midst of a r comeback effort which promises to be sue- t cessful. Smith accepted six mounts at Gar- r den State Park, winning two while beaten t a photo in another. He then went to Dela- j t ware Park where he was suspended for 2 rough riding, his first suspension in 15 years. Smith will be remembered as one of the riders in the triple heat in the Car- ter Handicap at Aqueduct in 1944. He rode . William Zi??lers Wait A Bit and that same ; year won the Belmont with Zieglers Bounding Home. Smith set a record in Canada in 1942 when he won 113 races in 105 days. |
