Who will run against them? Espe-i cially against Spartan Valor, who is due to make his midwestern debut in the Equipoise Mile one week from Saturday. General Staff, owned by Larry MacPhail, the old baseball man, is in to race, and the Hasty House Farm, who like to try double entries, may start two of their quartet nominated, possibly Ruhe and Oil Capitol. But will such as Sabaean, Andy B. W., Royal Mustang, Pet Bully, Abbe Sting, Coffee Money and the lesser lights care to match strides with the Helis Star. Real Delight will be meeting older fillies and mares in the Artful, to be de- cided the same day as the Equipoise, and, therefore, will likely meet more opposition than Spartan Valor. The Hal Price Headley pair, Aesthete, second in Aqueducts Ga-! zelle, and Recover, trounced by Real Delight in the Cleopatra, may make a bid: likewise, Brookmeades Two Rainbows, Freeman Keyes Flyamanita, Walmac Farms Toomai, C. W. Winters Whirla Lea, and a couple of others. They say on the turf that weight makes everything equal. and Spartan Valor and Real Delight will have plenty of weight up, thats for sure. But will it stop them? Thats the question? Shag Tails, Milton Shagrins nominee for the Warren Wright Memorial, is in from Detroit in charge of trainer L. Gen-" try . . . Jockey Otto Grohs, who was injured in a spill at the Lincoln Fields meeting, will accept mounts in a day or two . . . Mr. and Mrs. William Veeneman, who were here for the running of the Primer, have departed for their Louisville home. Happy Carriers next engagement will be in the Arlington Futurity, July 12, while Dean Cavy will start in the Hyde Park Stakes, July 4 . . Jockey Walter Lee Taylor was an arrival from Suffolk Downs and will free lance here . . .Bayard Sharps good three-year-old, Hannibal, will be shipped back to Delaware Park after fill- ing his engagement in the Warren Wright. Owner Sharp will be on hand Saturday to watch him run, and jockey W. J. Pass- more will do the riding. Passmore will also ride General Staff in the Equipoise Mile, and Jimmy McGee may come in to saddle the colt. Trainer Larry Thompson has returned from a trip to Kansas City, Kan., where he journeyed to spend fathers day with his family. . .The two-year-old filly Bink, owned by Mrs. L. Switzer, of Carmel, Ind., was an arrival from Suffolk Downs and A. W. Rupelt will take over the training. . . Emil Roehm, one of the Fairmount Park officials, is visiting for a few days before returning to his duties . . . Essman, of Dubuque, la., who have horses in charge of Joe Kroeck, are in town attending a convention. He is a manufacturer of toys. . .M. A. Kern, owner of the Lexbrook Farm situated near Arlington Park, is a regular morning visitor. An addition to the veterinarians now practicing here is Dr. Claude Mauberret, of New Orleans. Dr. Mauberret is a graduate of Alabama Polytech and serves as veterinarian for the Louisiana State Racing Commission. He will remain throughout the season. . .Magda West corrects us: Says she has been affiliated with the Post and Paddock Club at Arlington Park since it first opened. Magda doesnt look that old . . . Heres one for tracks in whose clubhouse enclosures cravats are a "must." The captain of the Danish National Soccer Club was fired because he refused to wear a tie... The two-year-old Voltage tried her luck at four tracks before coming to Arlington to graduate from the maiden ranks. Ed M. Goemans, who has some horses racing here in charge of trainer Roy Muetz-enberg, is visiting from his home in Milwaukee. . .B. W. Landy has purchased the four-year-old Cajac from J. A. Kinard . . . The five-year-old Moon Baby suffered a broken sesamoid bone during the running of the fourth race Wednesday and was destroyed ... The filly Sweet Patootie, who was injured during the running of the Miss America Stakes at the Lincoln Fields meeting, has been withdrawn from Saturdays Pollyanna Stakes, and jockey Willie Lee Johnson will have the mount on Celtic Play ...William Hal Bishop has taken second call of jockey Gerald Porch for the remainder of the Arlington meeting. Reverie Knoll has the first call on the rider.
