Scobeyville Seeks Third Straight Jersey Victory Receives First Garden State Try Over Route Against Five Rivals MONMOUTH PARK, Oceanport, N. J.. June 19. — W. H. Foales Scobeyville, a Jersey-bred colt whose accomplishments during the Garden State Park meeting drew the attention of the homestaters, will receive his initial test over a distance of ground here tomorrow in the featured sixth race. The sophomore son of Rounders — Umbril is nominated to the Lamplighter and Choice Stakes, both of which are distance affairs, and his performance tomorrow will be watched with interest. Scobeyville is topweighted with 122 pounds over his small band of five rivals that includes C. V. Whitneys Common Cause and J. M. Roeblings Freedom Bell, also aspirants to the stakes at this meeting : T. C. Eastmans Ruxton, Darby Dan Farms Rarelea and O. G. Ranchs Razzoo. The favorite, a long and leggy, but good-looking colt, has worked his way up from the claiming ranks. In his second meeting with allowance company this year he scored a smashing upset victory by better than four lengths over Brookmeade Stables well-regarded Congo King at odds of more than 40 to 1. That race was early in the Garden State meeting, and he returned a few days later to overwhelm his opposition with speed, beating shifty opposition while being eased up with a four lengths lead in a swift 1:10%. Although Scobeyville displayed burning speed in both races, he is capable of being rated and it appears that he will willingly go on. Right now he is a rather dark hope for the Jersey-bred legions, but a victory tomorrow would make his future chances look much brighter.
