NUGGET GOLD got to the front after going a short distance and drawing out nearing the far turn, had a good advarhage an eighth out but was forced to do his best near the end when MR. BRIAR challenged. The latter was in close quarters early and dropped back to last the pace, then improved his position gradually to finish fast. SO FAIR saved ground on the stretch turn to loom as the most dangerous contender and went well to the end. SON CHARLIE was always fairly close up. BULLISH was within striking distance to the stretch, then dropped back slowly. CORRECT took a short lead early and, after racing on virtually even terms with JERRY MY BOY to midstretch, drew away from the latter under pressure in the last sixteenth. JERRY MY BOY contested the issue in determined fasihon until well into the stretch, then began to drop back, but was easily best of the others. MELLO JACK was fairly well up from the start, but was doing his best to hold BLUE RUNNER. The latter finished with good courage. NEWS AGAIN broke well, but was unable to keep up. HEIR LINER moved up on the inside nearing the far turn to attain prominence and coming to the outside of LOTOPEP after entering the stretch, gained gradually to get to the front and be a handy winner. LOTOPEP shook off PATS PAL nearing the stretch turn but was challenged by HEIR LINER almost immediately and lacked the strength to last. DEAL ME IN finished gamely on the inside. BLUE VOLT passed tiring horses in the stretch. PATS PAL was used up trying to keep pace with LOTOPEP and weakened. FLARE was close enough early but weakened in the stretch. Wilson, bred by Ellis Farm. WENT TO POST-3:31. OFF AT 3:31 CENTRAL DAYLIGHT TIME. Start good from stall gate. Won handily; second and third driving. TRIOGRAPH moved up on the inside nearing the last turn and, finding an opening on the inside of VOLT in the stretch, passed the latter to dravsput near the finish and won easily. VOLT headed the field early and soon shook off COURTS MAUDE, but was not good enough to last, although holding the others. OBSTINATE SI was going gamely in the middle of the track at the end BOGALUSA made up some ground in the late stages. SISTER CORA and COURTS MAUDE weakened. JAMMU met with interference when TIGER HARRIS stumbled. TIGER HARRIS stumbled soon after the start and unseated his rider. Scratched-54046 Imperial Mandy, 108. WEEP NO MORE raced close up under restraint to the stretch, then came to the outside of the early leaders to finish fast and got up to win in the closing strides. CATHY JO was rated close to the pace and took a short lead after passing midstretch, but was unable to resist the winner, although holding on well. LADY TOY set most of the pace, but faltered nearing the finish. RUSTY BROWN was going well at the end. TOP CHOICE failed to threaten at any stage. MARK-YE-WELL, reserved while following close to the pace of PENACTION, saved ground when the latter went a trifle wide in the stretch and, getting to the front in the last sixteenth, was not hard pressed at the end. PENACTION beat the others away and raced in courageous fashion throughout desipte going wide in the run home. COLONEL HOOP improved his position under urging but failed to menace the first two. SPRING KHAL weakened after making a mild run around the stretch turn. CALICUT raced wide on the stretch turn and tired. Scratched— 59214 Ace Captain. 117; 59212 Orcas, 110. POCKET ALL showed the way for a quarter, continued well after being headed by BESTAPACHE and H0PEID0, and saving ground in the stretch again got to the front and held on just long enough to win. BERNROUGH raced several lengths back of the others for over a half mile, then made his move on the outside and although losing considerable ground finished fast and would have won in a few more strides. HOPEIDO was a strong contender most of the way only weakening in the final fifty yards. K AVENUE moved up on the outside after entering the stretch, then hung. BESTAPACHE weakened in the stretch.
