1 - Plainf ield Noses Out Pharas Beauty Gets Up in Final Stride to Triumph Breckons Sends J. M. Lee Filly Around Field to Nip Rival Right on Wire at Monmouth By FRED GALIANI Staff Correspondent* MONMOUTH PARK, Oceanport. N. J., June 19. — The Yedk jump proved to be the best one for J. M. Lees Plainfield, who ranged up on the outside in the featured Walt Stewart Purse here today and clipped the 50 to 1 shot E. F. OConnells Pharas Beauty by a nose. Another length back of the closely locked duo came Puckety Farms Faga-La. Plainfield, named after the town in northern New Jersey, was good for 3.00 straight, while Pharas Beauty, who was nipped right on the wire, paid 5.60 to place, and 5.80 to show. Jimmy Breckons put up a corking race on Plainfield, bringing him around the pack and nailing the pacesetter right on the line. Plainfield ran the six furlongs in 1:13% through a diminishing ram. For Plainfield this was his third victory " in five starts and it was also his second win in three outings this year. J. M. Lees three-year-old Errard-Whistig filly had raced only once last year, but at least got a part of the money that time, finishing fourth. This year she started out at Gulf-stream a winner, was beaten only a neck in her next start and then romped in her ~ previous to this. The favored entry of Sin-:_ ing Beauty, from Mrs. S. M. Pistorios Stable, and High Ground Stables Siren Song, e finished fifth and ninth, respectively, while ;t C. V. Whitneys Level Sands was seventh k in the field of 11 horses.
