Williams, who is eyeing the beautiful gold trophy cup which Ak-Sar-Ben awards the winning jockey on closing day, July 5, now has ridden 29 winners, 23 place and 17 show mounts for a total of 237 points on the basis of six points for a winner, two for a second and one for a third. His nearest rival is another Texan, Johnny Mack Brcoks, whose tally of 24-17-10 gives him 188 points. Tom Osment, Jr., of Nowata, Oklahoma, who has been in the top five since opening day here, has a good hold on third place with 130 points, but is being pushed by Taylor Powell, who riding double Wednesday boosted his total to 14-14-11 for 123 points. Henry Manifold, the veteran Nebraska rider, cotinuesto stay in the select group with* a record of 13-3-15 for 99 points.
