Boogie Watch Striving For River Downs Repeat Will Face Great Plains, Also Winner Last Out, Over Route By R. E. HURLEY Staff Correspondent RIVER DOWNS, California, Ohio, June 15. — Boogie Watch and Great Plains, a couple of recent winners at River Downs, meet with six other claimers in a mile and a sixteenth route test, which honors the Cincinnati Club, an association of local business and professional men, who annually sponsor a purse race at River Downs. Boogie Watch carried the Black and Blue Stable colors to victory in her only local showing after coming to Ohio from Wheeling, where she campaigned unsuccessfully for two seasons. The change in climate was just what -the daughter of Sir Damion — Cogie needed and she is taken to repeat her win with the same rider, J. Rector, again in the irons. Great Plains galloped to a hollow victory for owner-trainer Henry Fields, while racing over an "off" track, which suits the aged Omaha gelding perfectly. No rider has been named" overnight on the Fields racer, but he needs a patient boy who can wait for the final portion of the route and then make his steady charge while the others are backing up. J. C. Hauers Aris Brig, B. A. Wises Foxy Star, G. McFarlands Mad Cord, E. R. Morris Black Yankee, Andrews and Lucas Aliegee and J. Brandons Bleary Bob round out the field. Mad Cord returns to his old barn in the McFarland stable after a" short stay with Lou Madonna, who claimed the horse for ,500. McFarland returned the compliment at the first chance and must think something of Mad Cord in the Tuesday feature, which is for ,000. Aris Brig is a speedy sort that could steal off to a long lead and then laugh at the attempts to catch her. Bleary Bob is a soft track performer who will become a distinct threat should the track be changed by moisture. He was a two-time winner at Gulfstream this winter on a muddy track.
