The latter had the most early speed and held on with a fair amount of courage, but was not good enough for the winner. MARCY N. was never far away and finished well. FEIGNED was never far from the pace and, taking command in the stretch, drew out about midway home, but just lasted to stave off CANARY ISLAND. The latter was never too far removed and, responding courageously to urging in the stretch, might have won in a few more strides. ROYAL PAPPY was fairly close throughout in a creditable effort.
