Chamant Wins at Chantilly In Prix du Jockey Club CHANTILLY, France, June 15 Reuters . — M. Henri Letelliers outsider, Chamant, won the 1,360 Prix du Jockey Club French Derby here yesterday over 12 furlongs. Madame H. Seutets Seriphos was second, beaten by three-quarters of a length, with Baron Guy de Rothschilds Marly Knowe another length away and third in a field of 20. The winner is by Majano out of Pamphy-lie, was ridden by Michel Garcia and paid 156 francs to 10 francs to win. G. Chan-celier rode Seriphos and Paul Blacn guided Marly Knowe. Le Tigre II,, the only gray in the race who finished fourth, was said to liave been backed by Prince Akihito of Japan, who was among the spectators. Tosco led for most of the race and was still ahead after the straightaway was entered, but Garicia brought Chamant up strongly from among several other challengers for his first important win. - u ■"* " ■ f » *
