pensioners pensionersOldest Oldest living of all 14 previous Derby winners is Gallant Fox who won the big race for Belair Stud in 930 On January 1 1954 Gallant Fox reached his 27th birthday at Arthur B Hancocks Claiborne Farm near Paris Ky Gallant Fox who was foaled at Claiborne in 1927 being bred by the late William roodward became the biggest money winner ever owned by Bel air He was the seconr1 horse to win the Triple Crown the first was Sir Jarton in 1919 1919Gallant Gallant Fox Retired to Claiborne ClaiborneFollowing Following his racing career Gallant Fox was returned to Claiborne where he en ¬ tered stud in 1931 He was retired from service in 1952 after being bred to only one mare Early this year William Woodward Jr who took over the operation of Belair after the death of his father last fall planned to send Gallant Fox to Belair Stud in Maryland to spend the remainder of his life However these plans were altered and Gallant Fox remained a Claiborne as a pensioner pensionerSecond
