Louisville SubdiYidersName Tracts for Derby Victors VictorsCHURCHILL CHURCHILL DOWNS Louisville Ky April 30 One of the more inter ¬ esting sidelight stories of this 80th running of the Kentucky Derby was uncovered a few days ago by the Louis ¬ ville Times and it concerns of all things subdivisions It appears that developers of two different tracts wanted to name their subdivision streets after Derby winners And just to prove how up to the minute and alert they were to developments one subdivider left one application for street name blank to be filled in with the name of the 1954 Derby winner winnerThe The City County Zoning and Plan ¬ ning Commission first had approved a 43acre tract near Ormesby Village with two streets to be named Gallant Fox Run and Whirlaway after the 1930 and 1941 winners respectively respectivelyThen Then came an application for a new 160acre subdivision west of Dixie Highway between Pleasure Ridge and Valley Station to be called Valley Gar ¬ dens densNames Names submitted for this area in ¬ cluded Brokers Tip Lane Count Fleet Drive Burgoo King Road Pensive Lane Ponder Road Cavalcade Avenue Don erail Boulevard Wintergreen Road Zev Way Bold Venture Road Sir Bar ¬ ton Road Omar Khayyam Way Law ¬ rin Road Citation Road and Whiskery Lane This group also had asked for Gal ¬ lant Fox and Whirlaway but to avoid confusion with the streets already named in the other subdivision the builders were told to select others
