Neloy Native of Indiana Having First Derby Starter StarterEDWARD EDWARD ALBERT NELOY trainer of Black Metal for Maine Chance Farms is another firsttime Derby trainer and it might well be said that his rise on the turf has been well deserved Born in 1921 in Michigan City Ind he came to the tracks in 1936 and started as hot walker with Butsey Hernandez He also received early training rubbing horses under Jim Chesney and R C Groff Later he became stable foreman for W C Woody Stephens trainer for Woodvale Farm When the war came along he donned a uniform and upon his discharge he took out a trainers li ¬ cense He saddled his first winner Wire Briar at Narragansett Park in 1945 1945Neloy Neloy took the Dormar Stable horses to Santa Anita last winter and got his first stakes winner with Heliowise Neloy had a highly successful season at Santa Anita but with the post racing season dispersal sale of Dormar he found himself at liberty and signed on with Maine Chance only a few weeks ago
