Spring Khal Makes Good In Oak Glen at Lincoln Gives John Adams Second Saddle Score While Beating Steak Bone LINCOLN FIELDS, Crete, HI., June 11. Veteran John Adams rode a couple of winners in the early races here this afternoon. He piloted The Phoenix, to success in the second, but his most important score was on Spring Khal in the sixth, which was a claiming event dubbed the Oak Glen, and brought out the smallest, but best field to compete during the day. Steak Bone Was favored over Spring Khal and made the pace, but the son of Khaled easily passed him in the stretch to register by four and one-half lengths. Steak Bone beat Cow Town by one and one-half lengths for" second place. Steak Bone was out of the starting gate quickly, but Spring Khal was also off well, and while the former was racing freely Adams had a good hold on his mount. Spring Khal moved up on the outside of his rival in the stretch and gained command nearing the eighth pole, and that was it. Spring Khal, making his third start -of the session, paid .00. Steak Bone was making his first appearance. Spring Khal is own by John Beck and ran the six furlongs in 1:12. His success was witnessed by a gathering of 6,914 on -the hottest afternoon of the year.
