Cruse 1 Ohio River Track Observes Kentucky Day Blue Grass State Dignitaries to Attend Events Named for Several Major Cities RIVER DOWNS, Cincinnati, Ohio., June 14. — Wednesday will be Kentucky Day here at this spacious course by the wide of the Ohio River. Traditionally a gala day when the thousands of . thoroughbred fans from the Blue Grass State converge, the eight-race program will carry the names of cities in northern and central Kentucky and the feature race will be the Kentucky Day Purse. The officials. of state will be on hand and it is expected that members of the Kentucky State Racing Commission will attend. Heading the list will be Lieutenant Governor Emerson Beau- champ, who will make the presentation to the winner of the feature purse; Secretary of State Charles OCon-nell, Commissioner of Finance; George Stewart, Robert Allphin, commissioner of revenue; Commissioner of Welfare Glen Lovern and Sylvester Goebel, commissioner of insurance. Circuit Judge Paul Stappleton, of Fort Thomas, Ky., has worked with the management of River Downs in -lining up the state capital representatives. Another inducement to the Kentuckians will be the appearance of Miss Universe in the person of Miriam Stevenson. Miss Stevenson will present a cooler to* the owner of the winner following the running of the third race. President and General Manager Leon A Slavin has arranged for the distribution of 5,000 free admission tickets throughout northern and central Kentucky and this dayshould find the attendance records for the annual day falling. Each of the races will bear the name of a prominent city of that state with the Mays-ville scheduled on the opener, the Paris the second race; the Covington, Newport, Lexington, Frankfort — then the seventh and featured Kentucky Day Purse — and the nightcap will honor Louisville.
