WEST STAR, rated along cleverly while being kept within "striking distance of the leaders, came through on the inside at the stretch turn, responded gamely to pressure and outlasted MAIDWELL" at the end. MAID-WELL, sent to the front at once, was rated along under ..slight restraint, lost some ground at the stretch head and was unable to stave off the winners bid. NERVY NELLA improved her position gradually during the first half mile, though unable to -threaten the first two during the last quarter. WASWANAPPI came gamely on the outside through the last three-sixteenths. BETTY GIBSON, slow to begin, moved up with a rush entering the stretch, but was unable to improve her position in the drive. LAN, on -the outside all the way, closed gamely under urging. PROSECUTOR, forced to take up nearing the far turn when ON OUR WAY crossed over, was in close quarters again midway , of the turn, but closed gamely when clear. SANDY MACK displayed good speed all the way, but faltered slightly in the drive. PLUCKY JACK closed ground, though unable to enter into serious contention.
