j BELMONT STAKES SATURDAY Richest Three -Year-Old Event of Year Near at Hand Omaha to,Rule Public Choice. NEW YORK, N. Y June 3. The Belmont Stakes, the richest stake for three-year-olds offered in America and only antedated by the Travers, will be the star attraction next Saturday on the closing program of the greatest meeting ever held at beautiful Belmont Park. This years Belmont wilt be worth more than 0,000 and was at its highest value, 6,040, when Gallant Fox won it in 1930. This year William Woodward, chairman of The Jockey Club, has a worthy son of Gallant Fox in Omaha with, which he hopes to win another Belmont. It is natural to suppose that Omaha will be public choice for next Saturdays running. He will not be without serious competition. There will be William Duponts Rosemont, which recently trounced the winner of the Kentucky Derby and the Preakness, among those present. Among others expected are the Greentree Stables Gillie, Walter M. Jeffords Firethorn, the Brookmeade Stables Psychic Bid, Mrs. Thomas H. Somervilles Tweedledce and possibly others. The National Stallion Stakes, with an estimated value of 8,000 will be the secondary feature on Belmont Day and will attract the best of -the juveniles. The Coldstream Farms Coldstream is not eligible for this event, but White Cockade will have a chance to redeem himself. The twentieth running of the Meadowbrook Steeplechase Handicap will furnish sport for the lovers of the jumpers. Mrs. August Belmont will be the guest of honor next Saturday and will present the August Belmont Memorial Cup to the owner of the winner, the cup to be held until the next running of the race in 1936. ;
