DETROIT TURF NOTES t s : s Jockey H. Hebert is leaving Tuesday for Omaha. Edward Anthony is shipping three horses to Narragansett Park for the opening of that meeting. Charles Hainsworth notified, the Detroit management that he was shipping Black-birder and another horse from Latonia. Blackbirder started his racing career here last spring. He is eligible for the 5,000 added Detroit Derby to be decided here Saturday, June 15. , -JR. E. Potts returned from Washington Park with the Bomar Stables Grand Slam, which was shipped from here to add the Prairie Stakes to his imposing record. Jockeys E. Burns, J. Magner and E. T. Moore had their first mounts of the meeting Monday. Jockey Lee Hardy returned to the saddle after serving a suspension incurred for rough riding. Jockey F.A. Smith arrived from Rockingham Park and reported to H. O. Simmons. S. S. Friedlein, Cuban sportsman, whose horses are trained by A. Swenke, is an arrival from Havana and plans to stay for the remainder of the meeting. Waldo Freeman stated Monday morning that the Fishburn Stables Liz F. bowed in her left front leg while filling her engagement in the St. Clair Stakes Saturday. The Northland Stables Don Creole, which finished third, came out of that race with bucked shins. James P. Headley left for Lexington, where he hopes to purchase several horses for a California sportsman. Apprentice Charles Stevenson was far in the lead of the other riders at the close of the first nine days of the meeting. The Idaho lad has won thirteen races. Jockey" A. Craig was second with eight triumphs and Hilton Dabon third with seven. Charles Turk rode five winners. When Parity quit so quickly in his race Friday, the stewards thought the horse might have bled or that something might have happened to it and the track veterinarian was sent to the stable to examine it. They found the horse perfectly normal and reference to its races would indicate that when it does let go in a race, it gives up completely. I
