MHAWTH0RNE TURF NOTES s s Whiscenda, which was claimed at Hawthorne Monday by E. Harrill, has been turned over to E. Level to train. C. J. Fitzgerald, steward of the state racing commission, announced that beginning immediately two-year-olds may only race in blinkers in the first start when such equipment has the approval of the starter. He also stated that whips may be used on two-year-olds making their first start without special permission. Johnny Morrissey, who served as starter during the Aurora meeting, departed for Lexington, Ky., where he will spend some time with his mother. Jockeys F. Hall, R. Yelton, W. Lang and H. Dudley had their first mounts of the meeting at Hawthorne Tuesday afternoon. Apprentice J. Nolan, who is heading the American jockey list at present, and N. L. Pierson, holding fourth place in the ranks, both are sporting silks at the Cicero course.
