AGAWAM PARK jOPEN mm Plant Entirely .Renovated by New Management and a Successful Meeting Is Anticipated. AGAWAM, Mass., May 26 The summer meeting at Agawam Park, nested snugly in the lap of the Berkshire Hills, swings open its doors to again provide racing for the .western Massachusetts "fans. The new management has been busy during the past two weeks renovating the entire place, painters having completed their task shortly before midnight on Monday, leaving the huge plant ready to accommodate the big crowd expected to attend the opening. The Agawam Handicap, for three-year-olds and upward, over the sprint distance of five and a half furlongs, is listed as the feature, and boasts of some of the speediest sprinters on the grounds. Singing Heart, owned by Mrs. J. V. Stewart, will most likely be listed as the choice by the talent, although the Mrs. W. C. Weant entry of Prince Fox and Wise Anne, at post time may rank as equal choices in the "tote." The secondary feature on the card is the seventh event, which is a mile contest for three-year-olds and upward. Tight Wad, a winner at the previous Agawam meeting, again returns to seek further laurels, but the contention of the horsemen is that Just Remember will be pushing the former right down to the wire. The "Daily Double," a, feature at other leading tracks, will be in force at Agawam, with the first and third races making up that combination. Post time for the first time has been set for 2:15 p. m., daylight saving time. With a continuation of clear skies and pleasant conditions, the management is looking forward to a banner opening1 day crowd.
